I am a sociology professor who teaches stats regularly. This is a solid book with interesting relevant examples from actual research. The practice problems in the textbook are great. The book comes with several interesting datasets you can make available to your class. The powerpoints are fairly useful. In general, I am really happy with this textbook. I use it in my intro to social stats class. My students find it accessible. Importantly, its also relatively affordable. That's why I assign the "Essentials" instead of the "full" version of the text (which I also have).
