I bought this book and another book to prepare for the test. I chose both books because they had practice tests and were highly recommended by other reviewers. (I find that I do better with the diagnostic tests and/or practice tests so I know where to spend my study time.) Both practice tests were helpful because they helped to point me in the areas that I needed to understand better. This book provided a practice test with questions similar to questions found on the actual test. (i.e.- how to evaluate the level of Bloom's Taxonomy Questions and how to apply knowledge of Piaget's learning stages, etc.) Furthermore, the information was organized in an easy to read format. It gave more succinct summaries of needed info than the other book. This book also provided extra test taking strategies that I had never read before. (I didn't think it was possible.)
The questions on the practice tests and the actual test had very similar and often more than one correct answer. You have to choose the best answer, prioritize what should come first or what would be more important in a given situation. You really must understand the concepts of theories in order to apply them to "ideal" classroom/work situations.
Lastly, I did pass on the first attempt with about 3 weeks of studying.
